Countryside Stewardship Capital Grants to Open for Applications in July 2026

Farmers, land managers and rural businesses will be able to apply for the next round of Countryside Stewardship (CS) Capital Grants from July 2026, the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) has confirmed.

The 2026 window will offer funding for a wide range of environmental works, including fencing, hedge planting, hedge laying, coppicing, gapping‑up, water quality improvements, and natural flood management measures.

Defra says the upcoming round will continue to align with the government’s broader Environmental Land Management (ELM) transition, with capital items designed to complement Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) actions and Higher Tier agreements.

Applicants will be able to submit proposals throughout the application window, with approvals issued on a rolling basis. Farmers are encouraged to prepare early by gathering maps, photographs and any required consents to avoid delays once the portal opens.

For more information, or to discuss preparing an application, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
